Meet our graduates
Daisy was 13 years old when she and I took Sue Furman's canine massage class. Daisy had stiffness in her joints, and it was obvious how a nice massage made her feel better. Now Daisy is gone, and I have a new, muscular little American Bull Dog mix, Lucy. Lucy can run all day, and at the end of it she just melts when I massage her well-used muscles.

Richie, a miniature poodle, was brought into the vet to be euthanized since he hadn't walked for three weeks. He was adopted by the vet's groomer, who saved him from euthanasia and called me (as a sort of last resort) to see if massage would help him. After massaging five consecutive days, releasing over-tense neck muscles and strengthening a weakened rear leg, Richie walked! He continues to get massages several times a month and is walking like no trauma ever happened.

Since our recent class, massage experience has been limited to our three border collies and a 10-year-old chihuahua. Everyone seems to enjoy our petting with a purpose. The greatest benefit we've found is stretching for the border collies. It seems to calm them down at the end of the day. Thank you, Sue, for sharing your secrets with us!

My Golden Retriever Shayna and I took Sue's class, and Shayna immediately loved the massage moves taught. Now our beloved girl has cancer, and we are doing everything we can to improve the quality and length of her life. We want each day to be special for her, and canine massage is an important part of this. We know that the special touches of massage make her feel comforted and loved.

Cooper, a middle-aged beagle, while recovering from ACL surgery received daily massages. Three weeks later, he was fully weight-bearing and so relaxed at home his previous fear of thunderstorms disappeared permanently.

Rawley, a yellow lab, has a front leg amputation. Massage has tremendously helped relieve the extra stress and soreness put on her body as it compensates for the missing limb.

Lexie, a German Pinscher, tumbled head over heels several times in a lure coursing competition. Although she shook off cramps soon after the event, Lexie continued to suffer from tight hamstrings and gluteus muscles. Her worried owner brought Lexie to me, and I got busy massaging her whole body with emphasis on her hind end. After several massages, some manipulation (I'm a chiropractor), and stretching assisted by her owner, Lexie is back to fun on the lure course.
